Internet: Friend and Foe

I have always been fascinated with how Internet Marketers re-route people to their websites. In fact, there was this one time where I somehow ended up in an internet dating site when I was supposed to be led to a movie site. I reloaded my internet browser and tried to go the movie site once more. This time, I made sure that I chose the most appropriate link.

I have heard from some of my friends that some internet dating sites can contain a highly destructive virus that can corrupt your files in an instant. This was why I was such in a hurry to leave the site. I guess I am still lucky that I was not directed to a porn site. Although I have my firewall on, I am still reluctant to get "trigger-happy" with my internet browser because a new virus is developed everyday and they become less destructible each time.

Sometimes, I do think of visiting an internet dating site out of curiosity. I have seen testimonies posted on the internet that there are relationships that developed out of internet dating and they have remained strong. But the, somehow, the internet is not a safe way to meet someone that you want to have a relationship with.

Sometime ago when a virus called "love bug" created havoc among internet users, a lot were afraid to open their internet browser for fear that their computers might get hacked. They were scared because they have files stored in their computer (photos, office files, letters, etc.) and they could not afford to lose them. Thankfully, the virus was stopped before it can spread more havoc. A lot were so relieved when the news came that it is now safe to open their e-mails. Whew!

It is now very easy for a lot of people to use the internet to deceive and some use it as an experiment or a playground. Sites that offer free downloads are often the ones that are full of viruses. The internet is an amazing thing but it can also be your worst enemy. Be very cautious about the sites you visit and the things you download on the internet.
