Our web designers and computer repair personnel are the back bone of our business. The network we are on helps all of our sales get processed and to the shipping department in a timely manner. The shipping department is constantly on the lookout for any internet security breach. These days we have to watch out for our customers’ information, the internet security has to be able to block any malicious persons wanting to compromise their information.

We see it on the news all too often, so and so business has had a gargantuan number of customer’s internet security accounts copied. People are racing to computer on their network to change their bank account number/passwords and user IDs and all sorts of other problems have to be dealt with.

I think the jaw dropper for me was when I saw on the news that the government’s network had a laptop stolen with security files on it. An individual had taken the computer home and then had a break in. What exactly those files were I hope I never have to know. I wonder if that was a lesson and obviously a huge wake up call for those departments’ personnel.

Any responsible government agency needs for that information to be secure and never get out on their watch. I think those in charge of such information should know better than to take it home with them and take a chance with all of our security. It seems odd to me that it took so long for all of us to find out about this mishap.

We at our company head quarters watch very closely who has access to our customer’s information and just what they intend to do with it. Never is it given to a third party company for advertisement or anyone else. If we ever decided to do that, we would only do it with each costumer’s permission first.

I suppose it is possible we might have a need to do that at some point, but I can’t imagine why would need to at this time. I do wish all we had to worry about was business; it’s not the good old days anymore.
